2010 Class USCG MSC Alameda, CA

The information below is preliminary.  As we get closer to the April 2010 class we will post updated venue information

• Lodging Information: Lodging will be at the Executive Inn and Suites.  Call the hotel at 1-800-346-6331 and tell them you're staying there under USCG orders under Group Number GR265C.  For information on their hotel/room amenities go to http://www.executiveinnoakland.com.
• The 2010 Class Calendar and the Alameda Class Schedule.
• For transportation, refer to your official orders.  Air travel (in to /out of) will be from the Oakland International Airport in Oakland (only 10 minutes from the hotel).  If you've never traveled on US Government orders, we've prepared a lessons learned page.
• Thumb Drives (USB Drives): ARE Forbidden!!!!!  The USCG does not allow the use of Thumb Drives on their computers.  For this reason you are required to bring your files on a CD - PLUS Bring 2 Blank CD's to Class.
• Laptops: Having a Laptop is not a requirement of this course, but can be useful while traveling.  They can be used in addition to the classroom computer systems. Unfortunately, don't expect Wi-Fi access at the Training Center.
• E-Mail: Accessing personal e-mail via the Coast Guard Standard Workstations is forbidden. 
• Uniforms:  USCG Mission Support Community (MSC) Alameda is an active Coast Guard facility.  You'll find new as well as seasoned Coasties traveling from building to building.  Be mindful of your appearance and how to render a proper military salute.  Please refer to the AUXMAN chapter 10 for information on the proper wearing of the CG uniform.  Uniforms will be worn on Thursday, Friday, and possibly Saturday (mornings/afternoons).  The Alameda Class Schedule, when posted, will have all the information you need about when uniforms are to be worn.

Lodging at the Executive Inn	http://www.executiveinnoakland.com/ Information for the Aux-04 Class at Alameda: Your rooms have been reserved at the Executive Inn & Suites of Oakland California.  Call 1-800-346-6331 or (510) 536-6633 for reservations once you have your orders.  When you call in, tell the clerk you're with the "USCG Auxiliary under the group code (no code has been assigned yet).  All rooms are at the US Govt rate of $99 per night. (per diem for Alameda is  Room Rates are subject to change for 2010. There will be US Govt Tax Exempt form within your Student Information Packet which you'll find at the desk when you check-in. Upon check-in, tell the clerk you'll be using the US Government Tax-exemption.  To receive this low 'US Govt Rate' and the Tax-exemption, you might be asked for a copy of your travel orders, so have a few extra copies available. The Executive Inn's FREE Airport Shuttle hours are 6AM to 11PM.  As soon as you arrive at Oakland International Airport, call for the Executive Inn Shuttle at 1-510-536-6633.  The hotel is about 10-15 minutes away from the airport and can be on its way while you're waiting for your bags.
